Many of us at OmniTI love traveling and photography, so we have always admired National Geographic. We’re honored to have them as a client, and even more privileged to consider them our friends.
Perhaps best known for its magazine, National Geographic has been quick to embrace new technologies, and their television network and web sites are enriching all our lives in ways we never before imagined.
National Geographic came to us looking for a complete package. They needed to build a relationship with someone they could trust to not only handle their infrastructure and scalability needs, but also build sophisticated web applications and elegant user interfaces. Like us, they appreciate how every aspect of a web application can affect the user experience, and we’re happy to be helping them realize their ideas.
We are very proud of our involvement with building the online National Geographic Magazine and Your Shot, which have earned two Webby Awards for National Geographic.
After the launch of the new site, the number of unique people visiting the site went up by 500%. The content management system and caching we built for them also withstood massive traffic spikes from multiple features on Digg, MSN, and the New York Times.
Our journey with National Geographic continues, collaborating together on several exciting new initiatives.
